This site is a free resource made by Scribe Media, a book writing and publishing company in Austin, Texas that has published more than 3,000 books, including 23 New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestsellers.
Why Scribe made it
Most of the authors Scribe works with are experts and business owners who write a book to be known for something: to win clients, get booked to speak, or own an idea in their field. The book does that only if the author can say, in a sentence or two, who it is for and what it promises, and then say the same thing everywhere. This site collects the parts of that work that do not need a publisher, so anyone can do them.
Scribe sells book services. The guides link to scribemedia.com only where that is a useful next step, such as a chapter of The Scribe Method or an author's full story. Nothing on this site requires you to buy anything.
How the bio builder works
The Author Bio Builder does not judge, score or recommend anything. It arranges the facts you enter into the bio structure taught in the bio guide and produces a 50, 100 and 200 word version in the third person and a first-person version. It runs in your browser and does not send what you type anywhere unless you choose to send the optional form.
Where the examples and numbers come from
- Worked examples of positioning statements, promises, talk titles and bios are invented to show a pattern. Each one is labelled as hypothetical. None describes a real person.
- Author results come only from Scribe Media's published author success stories, and each one links to the full story on scribemedia.com. They are strong results, not typical ones, and nobody can promise them.
- Scribe facts (books published, bestsellers) come from scribemedia.com.
- Method draws on The Scribe Method, Scribe's free book on writing and publishing, with each chapter linked where it is used.
- Outside rules, such as what TEDx allows speakers to say about their books, are linked to the primary source and were checked on October 20, 2026.
